Therapy Beyond The Surface

Meaningful change often requires more than coping strategies, or short-term solutions. While these can be helpful, many people find that something deeper remains unresolved , patterns continue, familiar feelings return, and the same struggles reappear over time.

Depth-oriented psychotherapy offers a different approach.

Rather than focusing only on managing symptoms, we work to understand the underlying patterns shaping your inner world and relationships, including the emotional experiences, relational dynamics, and unconscious processes that influence how you think, feel, and respond.

This is a space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of your experience more fully, so that change is not just temporary, but lasting.

My Approach

If we work together, our sessions won’t follow a rigid structure or a one-size-fits-all method.

Instead, the work is collaborative and responsive to you.

I pay close attention not only to what you bring, but also to what unfolds in the therapeutic relationship itself, as this often reflects patterns that show up in other areas of your life.

Together, we begin to notice and understand these patterns, including those that may be outside of your immediate awareness.

This work is grounded in:

  • Attachment theory understanding how early relationships shape how you connect with others

  • Relational psychotherapy  exploring patterns as they emerge between us

  • Trauma-informed care working at a pace that feels safe and manageable

Over time, this deeper awareness can create space for new ways of relating, both to yourself and to others.

Individual Counselling & Psychotherapy

You might be considering therapy because something doesn’t feel quite right,  even if you can’t fully explain why.

Perhaps you feel anxious, low, or emotionally overwhelmed.
Maybe you’re feeling stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change.
Or you might be questioning yourself, your relationships, or the direction your life is taking.

Individual psychotherapy offers a space to explore these experiences more deeply.

Rather than focusing only on immediate symptoms, we look at what sits beneath them, including past experiences, internal conflicts, and relational patterns that may still be shaping your present.

This work can help you:

  • Understand yourself more clearly and compassionately

  • Make sense of recurring thoughts, feelings, and behaviours

  • Process past experiences that continue to have an impact

  • Develop a more stable and grounded sense of self

  • Relate to others in ways that feel more authentic and secure

Couples Counselling & Psychotherapy

Relationships can be deeply meaningful, and also deeply challenging.

You might find yourselves having the same arguments repeatedly, feeling disconnected, or unsure how to move forward after a rupture.

Or you may simply want to strengthen your relationship and better understand each other.

In our work together, we go beyond surface-level communication strategies to explore the deeper patterns shaping your relationship.

This includes the attachment dynamics, emotional sensitivities, and unconscious expectations that influence how you respond to each other,  especially in moments of conflict or disconnection.

Over time, this can help you:

  • Break out of repeating cycles of conflict

  • Understand each other beyond surface reactions

  • Repair trust after ruptures or misunderstandings

  • Communicate in a way that feels more open and honest

  • Build a more secure and connected relationship

I work with couples in diverse relationship structures, including long-term partnerships, newer relationships, blended families, LGBTQIA+ couples, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy and open relationships.

I know how hard it can be to find a therapist.

I’m happy to hop on a call and talk through what you’re hoping to find in therapy. Finding the right therapist really matters, and I’m here to help you find someone who feels like a great fit, even if it isn’t me.

“These places of possibility within ourselves are dark because they are ancient and hidden; they have survived and grown strong through that darkness. Within these deep places, each one of us holds an incredible reserve of creativity and power, of unexamined and unrecorded emotion and feeling. The place of power within each of us is neither white nor surface; it is dark, it is ancient, and it is deep.”
