Got a question?

Here are some of the frequently asked questions about the Online Counselling & Psychotherapy for Individuals & Couples that I offer

What is depth-oriented therapy?

Depth-oriented therapy is a form of psychotherapy that goes beyond symptom management or surface-level problem-solving. It explores the deeper patterns shaping your thoughts, feelings, and relationships, including past experiences, attachment dynamics, and unconscious patterns that influence how you relate to yourself and others. In short, it’s therapy that looks beneath the surface to create lasting, meaningful change.

How is this different from other forms of therapy?

Many therapies are short-term or skills-based, focusing on coping strategies or immediate symptom relief. Depth-oriented therapy takes a more exploratory approach. We focus on understanding the underlying causes of recurring patterns, emotional reactions, or relationship struggles, not just the symptoms. This allows for changes that last, rather than quick fixes that fade over time.

Who is depth therapy for?

Depth-oriented therapy can be helpful if you:

  • Feel stuck in recurring patterns in your life or relationships

  • Want to better understand your emotions, reactions, or relationships

  • Have tried other forms of therapy but feel something deeper remains unresolved

  • Are willing to engage in ongoing work to explore patterns over time

How often are sessions?

Once we begin a weekly therapy slot is yours for as long as you need it. I offer long term work which really allows the work to be relational and in depth.

Will I have to talk about everything from my past?

Not at all. Depth therapy isn’t about forcing you to recount every detail of your past. We work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, exploring what emerges naturally in the session. Often, patterns from the past reveal themselves indirectly through current feelings, reactions, or relationships, and we work with those as they appear.

Is depth therapy only for people with trauma or serious issues?

No. Depth-oriented therapy is for anyone who wants to understand themselves and their patterns more deeply.  While it is helpful for people processing trauma, anxiety, low mood, relationship struggles, or self-esteem issues, it can also support personal growth, self-awareness, and healthier relationships.

What can I expect to experience in depth-oriented therapy?

Every person’s journey is unique, but common experiences include:

  • Gaining insight into recurring patterns and their origins

  • Feeling heard, understood, and safe in the therapeutic relationship

  • Learning to respond differently to situations that previously felt overwhelming

  • Gradual shifts in how you relate to yourself and others

  • A deeper sense of self-awareness and emotional resilience

Is depth therapy suitable for couples?

Yes. For couples, depth-oriented therapy explores the underlying patterns that influence communication, attachment, and conflict. We focus on both partners’ experiences, attachment needs, and unconscious patterns to help break repeating cycles and build a stronger, more secure connection.

How do I know if depth therapy is right for me?

If something in your life feels unresolved, repetitive, or painful, and you’re willing to explore it in a reflective, collaborative space, depth therapy may be a good fit.

The best way to know is to book a free consultation, where we can discuss your goals, what brought you here, and whether this approach feels right for you.

  • Individual therapy: $120 AUD per 50-minute session

  • Couples therapy: $150 AUD per 60-minute session

A limited amount of concession spaces are available on request. If finances are a barrier to accessing psychotherapy please reach out to discuss how I can help make therapy affordable for you.

Psychotherapy & Counselling is currently not included as a subsidised service through Medicare, meaning I cannot provide a rebate for mental health plans. However, you may find that my session fee is often similar to, if not less than, the typical out-of-pocket cost (the 'gap' payment) you might incur when seeing a psychologist under a mental health care plan.

How much do sessions cost?

Can you work across different time zones?

I work online and can schedule sessions flexibly to accommodate clients across Australia and internationally.

During your consultation, we’ll find a time that suits both your schedule and your time zone. My goal is to make therapy accessible, while maintaining the consistency that depth-oriented work requires.
